Enhance your skin with IPL Photofacial

IPL Photofacial

How It Works

Aesthetic Solutions recommends IPL Photofacial for the correction of superficial blemishes on the face including, sun damage, vascular and pigmented lesions, age spots, acne and freckles. This is a non-invasive procedure which can greatly enhance the skin leaving it looking more clear, healthier and refreshed

A Photofacial uses flashes of broad spectrum, intense pulsed light, hence the name IPL, heating multiple layers of the skin to activate the body’s natural healing process. As the skin heals it repairs itself and stimulates collagen growth underneath making it look smoother and younger; correcting the surface of the skin and the supporting tissue.

How well it works

Newer IPL devices work about as well as laser treatments for some cosmetic treatments, such as fading blood vessels in the skin. For hair removal, IPL works better on thick, dark hair than on fine, light hair. You may need to have several treatments to achieve your desired result.

What to expect afterward

December 2016 - January 2020

You should be able to go right back to your regular activities.
The treated area of skin will be red and sensitive for a few hours, as if you got sunburned.
Your skin may be slightly swollen, too. Your skin will continue to be sensitive for a couple of days after the procedure.
You may need to avoid using hot water on it until your skin heals.

IPL Treatment

During the treatment there is minimal discomfort as the procedure feels like a small rubber band snapping against the skin when the IPL light flashes on the skin. Typically IPL procedures are 30-90 minutes depending on the treatment for the skin.

Immediately after receiving an IPL your face will be slightly flushed (reddish) as this is a normal side-effect but the colour will fade after a day or sooner, although, acne treatment may take longer to resume to normal. The number of IPL sessions will vary depending on the treatment protocol for the condition but generally speaking, 3 to 5 appointments are typical spaced approximately 1 month apart.

Treatments have long-lasting effects but sun spots and redness can reoccur if you spend a lot of time in the sun without sunscreen protection. Maintain beautiful skin by using a good skin care regime and return annually for a maintenance treatment.
